Olubadan in council declares support for ongoing review of Olubadan chieftaincy title

The Olubadan in council has thrown it weight behind the ongoing review of Olubadan chieftaincy title and other related matters embarked upon by the state government to upgrade the Ibadan traditional institution.
The Olubadan in council led by the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Lekan Balogun stated this today in a press briefing at the Ibadan house, Oke Aremo.
The revered chiefs insisted that the review was long overdue and applauded the state government for taking the bold step of infusing dignity into Ibadan traditional system just like other South Western states.
They also argued that making provisions for more monarchs in Ibadanland would elevate the status of the current Olubadan to an imperial majesty and advance the chances of Ibadanland becoming an Ibadan state.

While noting that the council did not speak for the government but in support of government, the high chiefs stressed they had initially clamoured for the review before the state government embarked on it.

The Olubadan in council therefore called for cooperation and support of all indigenes of Ibadanland while urging against any form of propaganda and political motives.
